The mission of ChartHop has always been to increase transparency by organizing people data. And AI has been a part of my vision for that from the beginning.

But, back in 2019, the technology wasn't there yet. It's here now.

So when AI made its amazing advances over the past couple years, and became more and more accessible, I finally saw the right opportunities to weave these capabilities into ChartHop.

And I’m proud of what we’ve built, because the more we build -- and there's a lot more coming -- the more ChartHop AI feels lockstep with everything ChartHop stands for.

The goal of ChartHop AI: Bring security and trust to lightning fast insights

The benefits of AI to uncover deeper insights, faster are clear. But those benefits are only as good as the trust you can place in the AI. That’s why, when we started building ChartHop AI, we focused on two core principles:

  1. Security: Workforce data is inherently sensitive. That makes safeguarding this data essential to any solution. We've taken an uncompromising stance on data privacy: your organization's data is never used to train or improve the AI model, ensuring complete confidentiality of your sensitive workforce information.

It also means taking a strong data security approach with Access Guard, which ensures that the AI can only provide information tied to the user's specific permissions, using ChartHop's industry-best configurable access control system -- so that employees only ever see the data they are allowed to see.
  1. Trust: People need to trust the data they use to make decisions, whether those are big strategic decisions that impact the trajectory of the workforce or smaller decisions that guide day-to-day operations. But hallucinations are the bane of every scaled LLM system. As a result, having a way to verify the accuracy of data felt core to ChartHop AI.

That’s why every time ChartHop AI answers a question, it automatically navigates to the data it pulls from within the platform so users can view the information side-by-side with the AI's analysis. We've implemented various guardrails to ensure accuracy, while still encouraging users to directly verify critical information.

Delivering ChartHop AI: Real-life super powers for People Ops teams (and beyond)

How exactly this vision for ChartHop AI manifested is incredible to see, and the best part is, we’re still at the beginning of our journey. Some of the features I’m most excited about include:

  • Ask ChartHop anything in chat and get instant answers and recommendations, all backed by the data within ChartHop so you can dig into the details for yourself.
  • Integrated business data (think sales figures, customer support metrics, R&D outcomes, and more directly tied to workforce data) to power more informed decisions.
  • Matrix teams, like cross-functional teams, geographic locations, specific functions, or anything else, to better visualize how work really gets done.
  • Impact insights to identify and respond instantly to workforce trends, for example, identifying hiring needs based on increased sales or aligning customer service improvements with employee retention goals.
  • Working style insights that provide personalized recommendations on the best ways to collaborate for any employee pair.
  • Fast calibration recommendations and instant analysis of compensation and performance reviews.
  • Instant summaries of data to quickly identify trends across open-ended responses from surveys, 1:1 notes, exit interviews, and employee feedback.
  • Automated notifications that summarize and bubble up the most important trends around the organization and send them to the right people.
  • Every ChartHop module -- HRIS, Planning, Performance, Engagement, and Compensation -- now has new AI capabilities and we'll continue to strengthen these capabilities everywhere in the platform.

Importantly, all of ChartHop AI is straightforward to use thanks to easy, conversational interactions.

The result? An AI solution that matches ChartHop’s values

ChartHop AI feels like such a natural addition to the ChartHop platform because it aligns with our vision and ties into our values as a company.

First, it’s fast. HR and business leaders field complicated questions all the time, and it’s easy to get lost in a sea of spreadsheets. With ChartHop AI, you can simply ask the question and get the answer you’re looking for quickly and directly.

Second, it’s inclusive. ChartHop AI reflects all of the data in ChartHop. But it does so in a responsible way, as Access Guard ensures it only ever consults or shows data to which each user has access based on their role.

Next, it’s transparent. ChartHop AI shows you how it’s thinking by not only answering questions, but also including clickable tags within those answers and navigating to the area of the platform where the data comes from so you can see it for yourself. For additional transparency, admins can review AI interactions within their organization, ensuring appropriate usage and helping identify common questions that might drive training or documentation.

Finally, it’s optimistic. There’s a lot of fear out there about AI. Will it take people’s jobs? Are we all doomed? But I prefer to take a fundamentally optimistic view. I believe AI, and ChartHop AI in particular, will give users super powers to do more, better. We think about AI features in ChartHop not as a replacement for the important work people do every day, but as a way to supercharge and automate what people do to help them be even better at their jobs.

An exciting future with ChartHop AI

ChartHop has always been about democratizing data within organizations, and the addition of ChartHop AI takes this to the next level. Now, everyone can be a people analytics expert, and I can’t wait to see all the different ways teams will use these capabilities to achieve amazing outcomes.

I’m proud to share ChartHop AI is available now as part of all ChartHop modules. Click here to learn more and see it for yourself.
